Monte Valinhos

Co-housing project and Reforestation

Monte Valinhos is part of Aniche where the co housing project is being born.
We are completely off-grid, using solar energy and water from a borehole and the water reservoirs that we created to enreach the ground water.
The communal building was finished november 2023 and we will soon be able to inaugurate the space for the forest school, a wonderful room for gatherings, events and workshops and the shared kitchen.
There is also one compost toilet, two living containers, two caravans and one mobile house for short term accommodation.

Co living and Reforestation: What We Do

The Land

This part of the project consists of 50 hectares of Eucalyptus monoculture which we are regenerating. By gradually thinning out the eucalyptus, not allowing the commercial machines to come back and thanks to the still existing seed bank in the soil provided by nature, trees are already coming through, which means bringing back the mixed forest of oaks and medronho is well on its way.
We have started on the vegetable gardens, herbs and fruit trees have been planted as well as fire-retardant plants such as Yukkas etc and we also have one lake nearby the Communal House.

Upcoming Building-projects:

  • a new shower built from natural materials such as clay, eucalyptus etc.

  • the IT Cabin, which will serve as a co-workspace for digital nomads and the community members

  • 4  fully equipped apartments will be rented long-term to people who want to become part of the project
